Painting Bequest: Painting is in Children’s library room. Julie is going to have a plaque placed to honor the bequest. NYS Budget Update: Preliminary reports of the state budget have Library Aid at 99.6 million (this is an increase) and Construction Aid restored to last year’s amount: 34 million Open Meetings Law Update: Committee on Open Government issued the following statement on April 11, 2022: On April 9, 2022, Governor Hochul signed Chapter 56 of the Laws of 2022 relating to the New York State budget for the 2022-2023 state fiscal year. See Senate Bill 8006-C/Assembly Bill 9006-C. Included in the bill is Part WW, an amendment to the Open Meetings Law to make permanent (until July 1, 2024) the expanded use of videoconferencing by public bodies to conduct open meetings, in very limited circumstances, regardless of a declaration of emergency. * Members can vote, but cannot be part of the quorum. * Julie will look into having Bob develop a resolution for the Board to adopt to have that availability.. Old Business: Soundproofing: Contract with Profex has been dropped off and signed. Mike from Profex said that the job should take about a day. The company has 120 days from April 5th to complete the job. It is unknown what the lead time is on supplies. Julie may close the children’s room for the day(s) that it is being worked on. New Business: Committees: Facilities: The facilities committee met on April 21st. Signage: * A discussion at this BOT meeting ensued about the projected costs of an automated sign replacement. * The quotes received were in excess of what the committee anticipated. * Julie feels as though one sign is appropriate (rather than 2). * Creative funding was discussed (fundraiser, legislature funding, letter writing campaign). * Eric recommended getting additional quotes. Julie will pursue. * Existing sign is 4x2, and quotes were for larger screens. * Existing signs were approved for outside use and full sun, but it hasn’t been effective in those conditions. * At the time the sign was installed, there was a moratorium on the allowance of signs outside. Roofing: * Leak on the roof is in the area of the kitchen in the area of the pitch (where the peak and the flat roof meet). * A ‘gasket’ was installed either incorrectly and/or moved at some point. * Julie will call to get a quote for the roofing project from a local roofer. David/Maintenance: * Hours are sufficient at the present time, but Julie anticipates a need for more hours (20-25) in the future. Solar Project: * Eric will connect with the contact this weekend. He (contact) did stop over to look at the roof. * Julie asked about solar charging stations for cars. To have the solar powered station, it only works for the overnight charge. The issue was tabled, since the library does not want overnight parking, nor do they want to have added costs to their electricity bill. * Eric pointed out that the charging station would be added to a GPS map so that any electric vehicle can utilize it. Friends Liaison: * Touch-A-Truck will be on June 4th. The library will be closed to patrons on this day and staff will be assisting at the event. * Volunteers are needed for the Thursday and Friday before to set-up, and to help take down. The meeting adjourned at 5:59 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Laura Finch, Secretary
