USS Slater

During World War II, 563 Destroyer Escorts battled Nazi U-boats on the Atlantic protecting convoys of men and material. In the Pacific they stood in line to defend naval task forces from Japanese submarines and Kamikaze air attacks. Today, only one of these ships remains afloat in the United States, the USS SLATER.

The destroyer escort historical museum owns and operates the national historic landmark USS SLATER DE766. They fill displays with photos of destroyer escorts in action, ships gear from WWII and naval uniforms and so much more. Veteran volunteers give oral presentations on historic topics pertaining to destroyer escorts.

The family pass is valid for admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children for a guided tour of USS Slater and access to the collections space.
