How do I get a library card?

Come to the library with your updated license, apartment lease, or piece of mail that has your name with a Clintondale, NY or Highland, NY address. You can apply for a card at the check out desk. Apply for a library card.

Is there an age requirement for getting a library card?

No. Children and teens can get a library card. The only requirements are children must be able to write their first and last name and those under 14 years of age, require a parent or guardian signature with a current Highland Central School District address. 

Why does my library card expire?

Library cards expire every 3 years to make sure patrons update their contact information. If your card does expire just come into the library to update your information and have your card renewed. 

How do I apply for a library card online?

Complete the online form at highlandlibrary.org/librarycard and within 1-2 business days you will receive an email with your library card number and temporary PIN. This card can be used to access all of our e-content! E-books, downloadable audiobooks, streaming videos, databases, and more! Your physical card will be held at the library. You will need it only if you want to check out any physical items and borrow items from other libraries in the Mid-Hudson Library System. To pick it up, simply stop in when the library is open with photo ID and address verification. Please contact the library with any questions. 

How do I sign up to receive text notifications?

Login to your library account from www.highlandlibrary.org. Select “My Account” from the top right of the page. Choose “Edit” account. Enter your mobile number. Check the box to opt-in. Click ‘Submit” to save the change.  You may opt-out at anytime by replying to any message with STOP. 

Can I replace my PIN if I forgot it?

Yes. From the library home page click on “My Account” in the page’s top right corner. Click on “Forgot Your PIN” then fill out your barcode and follow the steps to create a new PIN.
